Yasso was created by childhood best friends and co-founders Amanda Klane and Drew Harrington, whose shared background as athletes helped inspire an idea for a different kind of frozen dessert: frozen Greek yogurt. The idea took shape in 2009, and Yasso has been shaking up the freezer aisle ever since.
1991
Amanda and Drew become fast friends
Amanda and Drew’s story began as many great stories do, in a kindergarten classroom probably during snack time. It was the Fall of ’91 in Easton, MA when the two became close friends and bonded over their love of sports. Dedication, hustle and a competitive spirit throughout their school years landed them both D1 athletic scholarships, with Amanda playing soccer and Drew running track.
2009
the idea for Yasso frozen Greek yogurt is born
As athletes, Amanda and Drew paid close attention to nutrition. But while many aisles in the grocery store were stocked with better-for-you options, ice cream was seriously lacking. You could either save calories by sacrificing taste or reach for the super-premium options that offered little-to-no nutritional value. Not very cool. So, Amanda and Drew took this as a challenge and tackled this problem head-on by going to ice cream camp (yup, really). It was there where a simple, yet revolutionary idea first took shape: frozen Greek yogurt.
2014
changing the frozen dessert game
Yasso grew its frozen Greek yogurt lineup and brought its take on frozen desserts to more freezer aisles nationwide. That same drive to change the game helped Yasso stand out in a freezer aisle long dominated by legacy brands.
Today
the future of Yasso is bright

The Yasso name comes from “Yassou,” which means “hello” in Greek.
Yasso was founded by childhood friends Amanda Klane and Drew Harrington. The two met in kindergarten, became competitive athletes and later turned their shared interest in nutrition and great-tasting food into the idea for Yasso frozen Greek yogurt.
The idea took shape in 2009, when Amanda and Drew saw an opportunity for a frozen dessert that could deliver great taste without sacrificing nutrition. They took on the challenge by going to ice cream camp, where the idea for frozen Greek yogurt was born.
Through the Yasso Game On! Program, Yasso supports health and wellness initiatives by providing resources to organizations and communities in need. Inspired by Yasso’s founders and their athletic roots, the program helps create more opportunities for people to live active lives.
